• The Italian currency is the Euro.
• You can exchange currency at Travelex at the airport.

Internet & Phone

Internet/WiFi

• WiFi is available in the house. You must bring your own laptop or device.
• For outside WiFi 24/7, you can purchase an USB device — Vodafone offers unlimited access for 3 months with a prepay amount. This is available at most telecom shops in Ponte Rio or Perugia. This allows you insert the USB device into your laptop and connect to the Internet from wherever you are. It works on PC and Mac.
• In town, WiFi is available the bar/cafés in the main piazza.

Phone

The house does not have a phone; please bring a mobile phone. If you are traveling from the US or outside of Europe and have a non-EU service provider, the best way to use your device so you won't be charged high rates:
• Manage your plan before you leave so international calls and data are cheaper.
• If you don't need to receive email on your phone while traveling, disable all data roaming and network connections.
• If you don't need to use your own number, you can replace your non-EU SIM card with an Italian SIM card that can be purchased at a local telecom shop.
• You can purchase a cheap phone from a telecoms store to use for calls while you are in Italy and use pay-as-you-go service.

Shopping, Eating & Drinking

• For food shopping, the most convenient is the Co-op, located outside the walled city, taking the road from the archway, Porto Romano, past the shops, down the hill. This has a good selection of local produce, brand name goods and wine, very reasonably priced.
• There are smaller food markets and gourmet food shops within the walled city.
Cantina Tudernum is worth a visit and a great bargain for excellent, locally produced wine. From the house, near the archway, Porto Perugina, follow the road down the hill, turning left at the stop sign, driving into Ponte Rio. Follow the road through the town of Ponte Rio towards the E45. before the ramp leading to the E45, turn right to go through an overpass – this is the entrance to the Cantina. Here, you can purchase regular bottles of local wine or a 5 litre jug for Euro 6! You can select a red or white of choice that is pumped from a hose into a jug – this is then sealed and ready to go to enjoy! Perfect if you are staying for a week (or you plan to drink a lot!)
• Shops are open in the morning and close at 1PM for lunch. Most re-open from 3 or 4PM - 8PM. Most shops are closed Monday mornings.
• Restaurants are open 12.30/1PM - 3PM for lunch; 7.30PM - 10PM for dinner (if you are already eating dinner, you can typically linger and stay til midnight). Each restaurant has different days it is open, so please check beforehand. Reservations are necessary during high season for lunch and dinner.
• Bars (typically a café during the day, turned bar in the evening) are open until midnight/1AM.

Gratuity & Tipping

• Restaurants charge a small cover charge or "coperto" that will be automatically added to your bill for table setting.
• Usually a 10% gratuity charge is added onto your bill; if not, it is customary to leave 10%-12%.
• In bars and cafés, place your order at the counter to receive a ticket/receipt that you give to the barista who will serve you. After paying the cashier, you can leave a small amount of change for a tip.
• When tipping taxi drivers, it is customary to round up to the next Euro or leave 10% tip.

Pharmacy & Hospital

• There is a main pharmacy in the piazza and a few located throughout the town and in Ponte Rio.
• The hospital is located outside the old city of Todi at Via G. Matteotti, 162, +39 075 88581.
